How To Make Nitro Engine Powered 3D Printed RC Airplane.

Can 3D printing designed for electric motor be used with RC model airplane nitro engine? How?

This model plane was originally designed for electric motor. And a tail-wheel model airplane.
The wing length is 130 cm and the flight weight with the electric motor is about 1400gr. It is printed with LW-PLA (Lightweight PLA) a filament.

I made 2 main changes for this model. First; Since I wanted to use a fueled RC engine, I had to make the engine connection wall more solid. In addition, fueled nitro engines get very hot during operation. For this reason, I designed a new motor connection wall (Firewall). I also redesigned the connection of the motor wall with the body to be more robust. And I pressed the motor wall with ASA filament so that it can withstand high heat. ASA can withstand up to about 110 degrees.
I designed the second modification for the landing gear. Originally a tail-wheel model. But I’ve updated it to be a nose-wheel model because it makes taxi maneuvers easier and reduces the risk of the propeller hitting the ground.
All these changes increased the flight weight of the model by 350gr.

These updates to the fuel engine and landing gear caused a problem. The nose weight of the aircraft also increased. And the center of gravity problem occurred. To fix this problem, I shortened the model’s body nose piece by 28mm. Original length 173.55mm. The updated length is 145.55mm.

In order for the center of gravity to be ideal, I positioned the receiver battery 6 cm further from the trailing edge of the wing.

My preferred engine is OS 25FX which I already have. I bought this engine years ago. This engine has a displacement of 4cc (0.25cu.in), weighs 260g and has a power of 0.84HB. The size of the propeller I use is 9×6 (9 inches).
